Interim Head of FP&A (9-month contract)

Our client is a rapidly growing, PE backed technology business with an impressive, blue-chip client base. They are now seeking an Interim Head of FP&A who can support an international group, with turnover exceeding £200m. We are looking for an immediately available, experienced Head of FP&A who knows “what good looks like”, to come into the business and quickly support processes. Reporting to the Commercial FD this position will lead the Company’s FP&A function. You will provide strategic support to the executive team and private equity sponsors being responsible for budgeting & planning, financial modelling, forecasting, and other financial analysis. You are able to work in any of the hubs across the UK, or remotely. The contract is likely to be for the remainder of this year, so approximately 9 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage strategic planning and forecasting activities for the whole group, including:
  • Monthly 13-week cash flow forecast production alongside the Core Finance Function.
  • Group Reforecasting cycles
  • Management of the Group Integrated Financial Model, including continual review and development, and migration to a new tool
  • Preparation of Board packs, working closely with the Core Finance function
  • Oversee the delivery of key KPI & Forecast reports to senior stakeholders by the team. Where appropriate, provide support on the automation of standard reports.
  • Ad hoc projects, including capex reviews, business case preparation, and various scenario planning exercises
  • Supporting financial oversight of the Integration Program of the business’s largest acquisition
  • Act as a mentor to the existing team (alongside the Commercial Finance Director), supporting them to drive meaningful insight across the business and communicating effectively to senior stakeholders


Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Proven experience of working in and managing teams in FP&A leadership roles
  • Strong prior financial modelling experience essential – experience in handling complex integrated financial models a plus
  • Prior experience of Private Equity backed businesses desirable
  • Prior experience of IT/Tech/Telecoms desirable
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, allying challenge & scrutiny with inter-personal skills
  • Strong analytical ability, coupled with exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Not afraid to be hands on in nature – need to able “to do” as well as coach and manage
  • A collaborative working style
