About the company

Our client is a fast-growing Series A startup in the digital engagement space. Their best-in-class, award-winning SaaS platform is at the core of what they do and they are now looking to recruit a new VP of Finance who will play a key role in managing and adapting their financial systems and processes ensuring they are fit to support a rapidly growing business.

Having responsibility for the overall financial health of the business, the VP Finance will need to balance technical proficiency with commercial acumen, listening to various stakeholders, devising solutions to set up for success as they scale. You will report to the CEO, and as a member of the Executive Team you be one of the company's leaders and a fundamental part of their decision-making process.

Duties

  • Run all finance processes and operations including: managing a part-time book keeper, cash management, producing monthly management accounts and cash forecasts; submitting end of year accounts and submitting R&D tax credits
  • Lead on 'A+' funding round, including attending meetings with prospective funders, managing the flow of financial information, taking part in negotiations, and running the financial due diligence process
  • Review and update finance systems to:
    • Re-engineer the production of the unit economic metrics
    • Improve the reconciliation of sales and finance data
    • Improve forecasting accuracy

Profile

  • Experience in an institutionally-funded B2B SaaS startup
    • Any experience in disruptive technology or the built environment is also beneficial
  • Experience of using web-based financial and operational tools including Quickbooks, SaaSOptics and Hubspot as well as standard financial packages
  • Accountancy qualification (preferred) or MBA with finance expertise

Responsibilities

  • Create, own and lead the financial business model including forward projections for growth
  • Take responsibility and accountability for the financial position of the company and all activities associated with it
  • Manage cash flow, creating and implementing plans to reduce debtor days and building future financing plans
  • Prepare and own the company's annual financial budget and all reporting and forecasting associated with it, including preparing financial reports for the executive team, investors and board for the purposes of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, etc.
  • Run all of the company's financial processes including financial controls, payroll, management reporting, VAT, expense claims, R&D tax claims.
  • Own and oversee all statutory financial and compliance processes and reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant financial, tax and legal rules
  • Develop financial strategies for operational efficiency and growth
  • Advise on and develop metrics, with the support of the Data & Analytics team, required to inform decisions
  • Lead on any future financing or fund raising activities including preparing and presenting financial models and information, overseeing the cap table, financing process and associated tasks such as issuing and filing documents for EIS, Companies House etc.
