Interim Projects Consultant / Financial Controller (3-6 months contract – possibly to perm)

Our client is a VC backed growth company that provides both human and AI-enabled support and troubleshooting tools and they have just completed a substantial funding round. They have offices in the US and Sweden and the CFO is based in the UK.

The newly appointed CFO is looking for some interim support to enable him to focus on supporting the sales and business development, ideally for some initial project work but also as a controller. There are several entities in the group and revenue is approaching $10m. Due to use of external accountants, there is a need to rebuild the financial, management accounts and board packs from scratch, with various analysis. The plan is to roll out NetSuite or a more suitable accounting system and help will be needed mapping and implementing. The role may become permanent but could also suit a professional interim.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Production of management reporting packs and Bal Sheet from inception
  • Preparation of management account commentaries ensuring Due Diligence readiness so longer term there are correct historicals
  • Production of statutory accounts, ensuring Audit readiness
  • Review historical bookkeeping transactions and legacy issues as undertaken by outsourced providers
  • Oversight of balance sheet control, including timely reconciliations
  • Able to introduce and manage processes within the organisation to ensure that accounts and forecasts can be produced on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Ad hoc tasks as necessary


Candidates requirement:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Extensive experience of management accounts preparation and review
  • Strong organisation and project management skills
  • Accuracy and able to manage a number of projects concurrently.
  • Hands on, ideally with experience of NetSuite and systems implementations
  • Experience working for small medium sized companies with very hands-on experience of building detailed management reporting and accounts production – ideally where you worked with imperfect information
