Interim Financial Controller

Our client is a high-growth, VC-backed start-up producing alternative products to supermarkets. Since 2019, the company has experienced extremely significant growth in revenue. There is a need for exceptional Interim FC to lead the finance function, until the newly appointed FD commences employment, Key will be overseeing the year end Statutory reporting and leading the team. The contract is to start immediately and will be 3 months in length. They have hybrid working with 2 days required in the office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ownership of general ledger, including:
  • Understanding of the P&L, including detailed review and understanding of all costs below contribution
  • Understanding and review of all Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Query resolution
  • Month end reporting, including:
  • Management of the overall month end process
  • Detailed review of P&L below contribution
  • Production of management accounts and commentary
  • Fixed cost and Capex oversight and accounting, including:
  • Preparation of fixed costs and capex budgets and forecasts
  • Supporting budget holders in the understanding/management of their spend to budget/forecast
  • Statutory reporting and compliance, including;
  • Overall management of the year end statutory audit process
  • Oversight of financial statement preparation
  • Tax compliance and statutory returns, including; corporation tax, VAT, payroll taxes, plastic taxes, extended producer responsibility, etc...
  • Internal controls compliance:
  • Working with the rest of the business to manage working capital; stock, debtors, cash, and creditors efficiently
  • Line management responsibility for three other members of the team


The Candidate

  • You must be a qualified accountant
  • Commercial outlook
  • Highly intelligent and analytical, but with good 'soft' skills
  • Driven and results orientated
  • Good Microsoft Office skills

£500 per day (4 days a week)
